‘Half Steps’ premieres at Chapel Street Theatre

4:01 p.m., Nov. 3, 2004--Scott Mason, UD alumnus and associate director of student centers at UD, has written a new play, “Half Steps,” which will premiere at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, at Chapel Street Theatre in Newark. UD student Luke Wallis has landed a feature role in the play.

“Half Steps” is about a playwright who uses his family and friends for inspiration and then turns to these same sources to inspire his own recovery.

A member of the campus a cappella group “The Y-Chromes,” Wallis also is active in College Democrats. He has been involved in the E-52 Student Theatre and the Harrington Theatre Arts Company, but this is his first community theatre venture.

Mason is the author of 26 plays, books for musicals and fundraisers that have been performed off-Broadway, in Florida and locally.

Other UD alumni in the production are assistant director Judith Davis and actor James Simpers.

The show will be performed weekends from Nov. 5-20, at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $7 for students. Group discounts are available.

For more information or to make reservations, call the box office at (302) 368-2248.
