3 UD football players selected All-Academic

11:13 a.m., Nov. 18, 2004--Three University of Delaware football players have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 2 All-Academic first team.

Defensive linemen Ben Cross and Chris Mooney and linebacker Mark Moore were selected by a vote of District 2 member sports information directors. The district includes all NCAA Division I-A and Division I-AA schools in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be eligible for the team, scholar-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and be a starter or key reserve.

All three Fightin’ Blue Hens were repeat selections on the All-District team. Cross, who also was a second team Academic All-American last season, earned first team All-District honors for the third straight year. Mooney was a second team All-District selection each of the last two seasons, and he earned second team honors last season.

Cross, a civil engineering major, is a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 Conference Academic Honor Roll and the 2004 Atlantic 10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He has a 3.947 grade point average.
