UD’s Sobhan Tadjalli is CAA Rookie of Year

Sobhan Tadjalli
10:45 a.m., Nov. 12, 2004--After an outstanding freshman season, University of Delaware men's soccer forward Sobhan Tadjalli has been selected the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year.

Tadjalli also was named first team All-CAA and to the conference All-Rookie team. He is the first UD player to be named first team All-CAA since the Fightin’ Blue Hens joined the conference in 2001.

Tadjalli led the Hens with 11 goals, and also had three assists for a total of 25 points. Both were all-time records for a UD freshman, breaking the mark of 10 goals and 22 points set by John McCloskey in 1975.

Tadjalli scored in back-to-back games twice during the season and scored two goals or more in three matches this year. He scored four goals in a 7-2 victory over Mount St. Mary’s, the most goals scored in a game for UD since 1972, when Jeff McBrearty also scored four times.
