The Fightin Blue Hens mens squad, under head coach David Henderson, combines speed and athleticism with a lively roster that includes promising newcomers and seasoned veterans. Veteran point guard Mike Slattery returns as one of the leagues premium playmakers, while multitalented junior Harding Nana should keep the opposition busy defending his exciting style of inside/outside playmaking. Veterans like Robin Wentt, Calvin Smith and Rulon Washington will team up with sophomores Herb Courtney, Raphael Madera, Lebo Maepa and Henry Olawoye, to give Blue Hen fans plenty to look forward to this season. Head coach Tina Martin said she feels that this years womens basketball squad has what it takes to make it all the way to the CAA championships. Basically untouched from last year, when the Hens notched their fifth consecutive season with at least 19 wins, the roster includes two time All-CAA forward Tiara Malcom, as well as forward Tiffany Young and guard Julie Sailer. Sophomores Liz Hayes and Alena Koshansky are always a threat at point guard, while Tyresa Smith again will excite True Blue Hen fans with her athletic moves and relentless defense. Fan favorite and beloved UD mascot YoUDee will share the court with the UD pep band, cheerleaders, dance team and fun promotions to guarantee that there never is a lull in the action at the Bob this season. Another item that is sure to please potential fans is the Family Four Pack, which includes tickets for two adults and two children ages 17 and under.
