James Earlington Scott
 

May 11, 2005-- James Earlington Scott, 61, died at his home in Lewes, on April 27, after a decline in health over the last several years.

He formerly worked in the University of Delaware Library.

Mr. Scott was educated in the Baltimore City public schools but dropped out of high school and joined the Marines in 1965.

During his military service, he earned several commendations, including a Vietnam Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He obtained his GED in October 1967 and received an honorable discharge on December 27, 1967.

After living in Germany for several years, he continued his education at University of Iowa, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in 1980 and a master of arts degree in 1986.

Over the years, he held several jobs in media services management at Brown University and UD. He also studied at the Library of Congress under a grant. In February 2002, he retired on disability and relocated to Lewes to be closer to his brother and family.
