CBS crew learns about rip currents
CBS reporter Sharyn Alfonsi discussed rip currents with James T. Kirby, Edward C. Davis Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Jack A. Puleo, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering. The UD researchers then gave a demonstration of the power of rip currents using the centers wave tank. Also on hand for the taping was Wendy Carey, a coastal processes specialist for the UD Sea Grant Marine Advisory Service who has been active in the national Break the Grip of the Rip campaign sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the United States Lifesaving Association.
