Hotel has first 'sell out' March 16

3:06 p.m., March 21, 2005--Since the opening of the Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel on the Laird Campus in November, there have been several close-to-full occupancy nights, but the first true “sell-out” came on Wednesday, March 16. Events in Clayton Hall, a visiting sports team, several UD groups and local corporate business all combined to fill the hotel to capacity that evening.

“This is a major event for a new hotel and is a great indicator of the continuing growth of the hotel’s business,” Bill Sullivan, managing director, said.

Sullivan said he was pleased to share the news with students in UD’s Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management (HRIM) program who work in the various parts of the hotel as part of their junior year practicum experience. “The excitement of filling your hotel with satisfied guests is one of the best experiences that we can share with our cadre of future hospitality leaders,” Sullivan said.

For more information about the hotel, visit [www.udel.edu/hotel] or e-mail [billsull@udel.edu].

Visit The Marketplace@UD on UDaily for a special coupon good for $1 off on the hotel’s breakfast buffet.
