May 11, 2005--Mary Sadowski Boyer, 81, died May 6 at her home in Newark.

She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1941 and earned an associate degree from the University of Delaware in 1983.

She worked for the DuPont Co. and later in the University of Delaware Department of Biological Sciences.

She was an avid reader and gardener.

Mrs. Boyer is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rodney; her five children, Jeanne of Port Townsend, Wash., John of Raleigh, N.C., Matthew of Wilmington, Alec of Potomac, Md., and Philip of Nottingham, Pa.; a brother, Francis Sadowski of Daytona, Fla.; and seven grandchildren: Nathan, Rebecca, Florence, Patrick, Christopher, Evan and Matthew.

A memorial mass was held May 11 at St. Ann's Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave., Wilmington.
