YoUDee tells all

4:54 p.m., Sept. 9, 2004--Everyone’s favorite Blue Hen, YoUDee, has strutted into the spotlight once more in an interview with Adam Zucker for CollegeSports.com as Mascot of the Week, in an article entitled “Who You Callin’ Chicken?—Delaware’s mascot speaks out on fame and success.”

Mascots do not speak, so YoUDee was interviewed through a spokesperson, aka the senior cocaptain of UD’s student mascot team.

In the interview, YoUDee said that one of the biggest challenges for the big bird, who stands tall and proud at 6 feet, 8 inches, wears 28FF shoes and has a “huge tail” is “not breaking anything or ANYONE for that matter!”

YoUDee also reminisced about the NCAA I-AA national championship football game in December. “Being the cocky bird that I am, I had a good feeling that we were going to win...but still, it was nerve-racking.”

Moving on to this year, YoUDee said, “I am so excited for this season. Our football team has so many talented players!...The fans are psyched too!...The students at University of Delaware are so involved. I’m honored to be such a huge icon at this University.”

YoUDee’s parting comment: “No matter where I am, I am proud to be a Blue Hen! And to this day, I am still a fierce fighter. FEAR THE BIRD!” Zucker said, “I do.”
