Weight-loss program offered to employees

3:55 p.m., Sept. 17, 2004--A flexible eight-week program designed to assist UD employees with weight-management strategies is being offered from Sept. 30 through Nov. 18 by UD’s Employee Wellness Center.

The program, which offers participants the option of taking weekly classes or not, focuses on effective long-term solutions rather than fads, drugs and quick-fix approaches, according to Marianne Carter, director, Employee Wellness Center.

Participants who choose to attend weekly classes will meet from 12:30-1 p.m. every Thursday from Sept. 30 through Nov. 18 in 117 Sharp Lab. This option, which costs 40 Wellness Dollars, includes a weight-loss manual, motivational e-mails and weekly weigh-in opportunities.

Participants unable to attend classes will receive the manual, weekly e-mails, online Q & A checkups and the option to stop by Room 125 of the Carpenter Sports Building for weekly weigh-ins. This program costs 20 Wellness Dollars.

For more information or to register for either program, call (302) 831-8388 or visit [www.udel.edu/wellness]. Early registration is recommended for the Thursday class, as space is limited.
