Fire in Lammot du Pont Lab July 17

11:22 a.m., July 20, 2004--University Police are investigating a small fire that occurred around 3 a.m., Saturday, July 17, in a fume hood in a second-floor lab in Lammot du Pont Laboratory.

The fire activated a sprinkler, which extinguished the fire. No one was present or injured.

UD personnel from Public Safety and Occupational Health and Safety responded, as did Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, Five Points and Cranston Heights fire departments and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s hazmat unit.

The building was closed until the water could be cleaned up and an any necessary repairs made. Researchers were allowed in the labs on Sunday to assess water damage.
