Kenneth J. Campbell, associate professor of political science and international relations, is scheduled to be a guest on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, which airs at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9. Campbell, a Vietnam veteran who served as an artillery forward observer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967-70 and who later joined the Vietnam Veterans Against the War organization, is expected to discuss the impact of that war on the current presidential campaign.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Sept. 9 USA Today story on a Government Accountability Office report that recommends the strengthening of federal laws and oversight of potential conflicts of interest of corporate executives and fund managers who oversee and vote on pension issues. "It's an open secret that these conflicts do affect the way people vote,” Elson told USA Today.
