12:25 p.m., Aug. 26, 2004--A roundup of recent news items about UD, its faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Football Head Coach K.C. Keeler and Fightin’ Blue Hens mascot YoUDee were featured Aug. 26 on the Good Day Philadelphia program on Fox’s WTXF, Channel 29. Keeler presented show host George Mallet, a UD alumnus, with an official 2003 NCAA Division I-AA championship season fleece and an autographed copy of the book Return to Glory.

University of Delaware students were featured in an Aug. 26 News-Journal story about residence hall décor.

Kenneth Campbell, associate professor of political science and international relations, was quoted in an Aug. 25 Los Angeles Times story about the lingering effects of Vietnam on the current presidential race between George W. Bush and John Kerry. "Vietnam is our nation's most divisive conflict since the Civil War, which at least had [the South's formal surrender at] Appomattox to resolve it," Campbell told the Times. "Vietnam had no Appomattox. That's where all the venom comes from. It remains an open national wound covered with Band-Aids."

Renee Settles-Bean, coordinator in the UD Center for Disabilities Studies, was quoted in an Aug. 24 WDEL-AM broadcast about two new videos designed to help recruit and retain workers who provide direct services to persons with disabilities in residential and day programs. The videos were produced under a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
