Disregard bogus MBNA e-mail

4:37 p.m., Sept. 14, 2004--Procurement Services strongly advises University Procurement Card holders and administrators not respond if they receive the following e-mail message with the subject line, “Attention all MBNA users!” The message is NOT from MBNA:

Addressed to "Dear MBNA user," the note advises that "Due to database operations some online banking accounts can be lost. We are insiting [sic] to our clients to check their account if they are active or if their current balance is right."

Recipients are then asked to go to a link to sign on to their accounts.

The note ends with the instruction, "Do not relpy [sic] to this e-mail.”

George Walueff, administrator in UD's Procurement Card Program, said that “MBNA has confirmed that this message is not from them,” and he urges anyone who receives the bogus e-mail to delete it immediately.
