Wellness Center offers fall fitness challenge 9:33 a.m., Aug. 5, 2004--UDs Employee Wellness Center invites faculty and staff to invest in their health this fall by participating the Lt. Governor's Challenge, from Sept. 12-Dec. 4. More than 15,000 Delawareans alredy have accepted this statewide physical activity challenge. The 12-week, self-paced, behavior-change program encourages participants to engage in regular physical activity. Points are accumulated for every 30 minutes of physical activity logged, such as walking, bicycling, mowing and raking leaves. At the end of the challenge, the state of Delaware will award bronze, silver and gold medals to those who meet their goals, and UDs participants will receive T-shirts and the chance to win a two-night weekend stay in Ocean City, Md. The registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 3. UD participants will be sent weekly motivational e-mails, a T-shirt if they complete the program and be eligible for the grand prize two-night weekend stay in Ocean City, Md., donated in part by UNIGLOBE, Charlie B. and Red Carpet Travels. Cost is 15 Wellness Dollars. Full-time employees receive 50 Wellness Dollars every July to use on health promotion programming or fitness classes. For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/wellness].
