Colonial honors four UD scholar-athletes

9:22 a.m., Sept. 21, 2004--The Colonial Athletic Association has honored four University of Delaware scholar-athletes.

Leah Geib was named the CAA Player of the Week in field hockey, Allison Kendro the Player of the Week in women’s soccer, Colleen Walsh the Rookie of the Week in volleyball and Sobhan Tadjalli Rookie of the Week in men’s soccer.

Geib, a senior tri-captain, had two goals and two assists in two games, the first a victory over St. Joseph’s and the second a close loss to No. 2-ranked Maryland.

Kendro, a junior, scored one goal in a UD win over the University of Maryland Baltimore County and three in a win over Temple. She shared weekly honors with James Madison University goalkeeper Jessica Hussey.

Walsh, a freshman, led UD to a victory over Temple University with a career-high 23 kills, hitting .452 in the four-game match. She posted 15 kills against Brown, eight against Marist and six against Central Connecticut. Walsh is 10th in the CAA in hitting percentage with a mark of .249 and is fourth on the team in kills with 106.
