Delawares P.J. Meany is CAA Runner of Week 2:40 p.m., Sept. 16, 2004--P.J. Meany, a sophomore on the University of Delaware mens cross country team, has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Runner of the Week. Meany won the season-opening Towson Invitational on Saturday and led the Fightin Blue Hens to a second-place finish, just one point behind team champion Navy. Meany bested 133 other runners, covering the five-mile Oregon Ridge Park course in 26 minutes and 26 seconds. As a freshman in 2003, Meany placed in the top 10 in four events during the season and was 36th overall at the Colonial Athletic Association championship meet. The Hens will host the annual Delaware Invitational on Saturday morning, Sept. 18, at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark. The men's race will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11:10 a.m. In addition to UD, teams expected to compete are Delaware State, Hofstra, Lincoln, Rochester, Richard Stockton State and Wilmington College.
