First fall blood drive set Sept. 9

10:58 a.m., Aug. 31, 2004--Giving blood helps save lives, and last year 981 members of the UD community, including almost 200 first-time donors, gave blood during a series of campus blood drives.

To continue this tradition of giving, or perhaps become a first-time donor, come to the first blood drive of the fall semester from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, in the Multipurpose Room of the Trabant University Center.

No appointment is necessary. Walk-in donors are welcome at all times.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and have had no tattoos or body piercings in the past 12 months. Donors should remember to eat a good meal within three hours of donating.

Sigmi Chi is sponsoring the blood drive. For more information, call the Blood Bank of Delmarva at (302) 738-8405, extension 778.
