UD takes top residence hall group honor 4:12 p.m., Feb. 23, 2005--The University of Delaware was named School of the Year by the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (CAACURH) at a conference held Feb. 11-13 at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio. CAACURHs School of the Year Award is the highest honor a member school can receive. The award recognizes outstanding achievements by a residence hall organization and associated groups and contributions at regional and national levels. The award was accepted by junior Adam Rosen, Resident Student Association (RSA) president; Mara Lockowandt, a senior and CAACURH national communications chairperson, and Michael Diesner, Ray Street Complex coordinator and RSA adviser. Roselle wrote, “The Resident Student Association has been an exemplary part of student life at the University. I believe it is one of the finest in the country, and I strongly support its bid for this prestigious award.” Rich wrote, “The University of Delaware’s Resident Student Association is an active student organization that has two primary functions--representing the residential student population to the administration and providing programs and activities for the campus community. They accomplish both with energy, creativity and finesse.” According to Michele Kane, assistant director of Residence Life, a major factor in winning the award was UDs contributions to CAACURH, the regional branch of the National Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls, especially hosting the annual CAACURH conference last November.
