Recipes from Home sought by Dining Services 4:17 p.m., Feb. 14, 2005--Beginning this semester, Dining Services debuts its Recipes from Home program, offering students flavors from home while theyre away at college. UD parents can submit their students favorite recipes to Dining Services by filling out a form online at [www.udel.edu/dining/forms/recipe_form.html]. Selected recipes will be featured in the dining halls throughout the semester, and popular recipes may become part of the regular menu cycle. Cabbage patch soup became a popular regular menu item after being submitted in a similar program offered during the 1990s, according to Debbie Miller, dietitian in Dining Services. Dining Services is very excited to bring the tastes of home to campus through this program, Miller said. Recipes will be evaluated on their uniqueness and comfort factor. Favorite recipes that are vegetarian, low-fat or low-sodium are also of special interest because of increasing requests from students. Families who submit selected recipes will receive a congratulatory letter and an invitation to join their son or daughter for the meal featuring their recipe. Recipes also will be included in an online cookbook, Miller said. For more information, call (302) 831-1008 or e-mail [dml@udel.edu]. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
