English prof to head ‘Wartime Realities’ panel

9:38 a.m., March 3, 2005--McKay Jenkins, Cornelius A. Tilghman Professor of English. will moderate a panel discussion, “Wartime Realities: Veterans’ Voices and Stories,” at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, March 5, following the matinee performance of The Drawer Boy, at the Delaware Theatre Company, 200 Water St., on the Riverfront in Wilmington. The panel discussion is free and open to the public

Jenkins is the author of The Last Ridge: The Epic Story of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division and the Assault on Hitler’s Europe. The panel will include local veterans and Mark Kaufki, a psychologist specializing in combat-related trauma.

Named by Time magazine as one of the best plays of 2001, The Drawer Boy, set in World War II, looks at how events of the past shape the present.

A 50 percent discount on tickets to The Drawer Boy is offered to the University of Delaware community for the matinee at 2 p.m. and evening performance at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 5.
