10:09 a.m., March 4, 2005--A roundup of recent news items about UD, its faculty, staff and alumni.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a front page story in the March 4 Wall Street Journal concerning a purge of the board of directors at Cablevision Systems Corp. "Replacing a group of directors midstream like that in a large public company almost never happens," Elson told the newspaper. Elson was quoted about the same topic in the March 3 issue of The New York Times and in the March 4 issues of the Los Angeles Times and Newsday. He also was quoted in a Reuters news service story.

Charles R. Link, MBNA America Professor of Business, was quoted in a March 4 Fort Worth (Texas) Star Telegram story about the National Hockey League lockout as it relates to fans.

David Legates, director of the UD Center for Climatic Research, was quoted in a March 2 News Journal story on the near miss by the latest snowstorm. "Nor'easters are just inherently difficult to predict, particularly around this area,” he said. “A slight change in direction in this direction or that direction will give you rain versus snow, or wind versus no wind."

Shaun Rogers, of the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club, was the subject of a feature in the March 2 News Journal. Rogers is competing in the International Skating Union Junior World Championships in Kitchener, Ontario.
