Information sessions on MPA program set 1:16 p.m., March 4, 2005--UDs School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy is holding four information sessions about its part-time master of public administration (MPA) program for working professionals who are involved in government, nonprofit and community management, as well as in the private sector. The program was formerly known as the Mid-Career Option. The sessions will be held:
Students will be admitted to the nationally accredited MPA program, offered through the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy in the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, each fall and can earn their masters degree in three and a half years with flexible scheduling and year-round courses. The 42-credit MPA program requires seven core courses and then students may pursue one of three areas of specialization: state and local management, community development and nonprofit leadership, and organizational leadership. Financial management and health policy and administration specializations are available with some daytime coursework or as focus areas within the state and local government specialization. There also is an opportunity to shape an area of specialization to fit individual interests. Students enrolled in the program will be with other adult students who are juggling academics with their professional and personal lives, acting as a peer support system. Past graduates represent a variety of careers and backgrounds from police work to mechanical engineering and political science. Prospective students should apply to the MPA program by April 15 to receive consideration for limited scholarship funding. The final deadline for applications is July 15. For information or applications, contact Maria Aristigueta, director of the MPA program, at (302) 831-1687 or send e-mail to [suapp@udel.edu]. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
