UD womens lacrosse to open at Rutgers 3:34 p.m., March 1, 2005--The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team will open its first season under new Head Coach Kim Ciarrocca with a game at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 5, at Rutgers University. The Fightin Blue Hens, who are nationally ranked in two preseason polls, will play their home opener at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 10, against Loyola College of Maryland. UD is picked No. 15 in the Inside Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll and No. 19 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll. Ciarrocca joined the Hens after 12 seasons as head coach at Temple University, where she led the Owls to seven NCAA tournament appearances. UD returns 14 letter winners from a team that finished 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the Colonial Athletic Association. They include three second-team All-CAA selections, senior tri-captain Erin Edell, sophomore Jenny Diana and senior midfielder Allison Lynch. Diana led the team in scoring as a freshman with 38 goals.
