UD men’s lacrosse team falls 14-9 to Stony Brook

10:38 a.m., Feb. 28, 2005--The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 14-9 at Stony Brook (N.Y.) University on Saturday afternoon.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens, who fell to 2-1, were led by senior midfielder Joe Trentzsch, who had three goals. Also for UD, Cam Howard had a goal and two assists, Bobby West had a goal and an assist and John Carrozza had two assists. Goalkeeper Chris Collins had 15 saves, and midfielder Alex Smith won 16 of 25 face-offs.

UD will return to action with a game against Rutgers University at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 5, at Rullo Stadium. The game will be the first of the season for the Scarlet Knight, who won eight games and a berth in the NCAA tournament last season.
