ITUE workshop gives hands-on experience

2:22 p.m., Feb. 18, 2005--UD’s Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education (ITUE) began its spring semester workshop series in January with an introductory session entitled, “Problem-Based Learning: From Ideas to Solutions through Communication.”

The workshop, held Jan. 19-21, was for ITUE faculty and graduate teaching assistant fellows whose participation in the workshop gives them hands-on experience in active learning strategies, particularly problem-based learning and effective use of technology in their courses.

Workshop presenters included Deborah Allen, professor of biological sciences, Susan Groh, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, Hal White, professor of chemistry and biochemistry; Stephen Bernhardt, Andrew B. Kirkpatrick Jr. Chair in Writing; George Watson, Unidel Professor of Physics and Astronomy.

Another session will be offered June 15-June 17.
