Delawares Grant plays in NLL All-Star Game 2 p.m., Feb. 28, 2005--Former University of Delaware mens lacrosse star John Grant Jr. was selected to compete in the 2005 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game, held Saturday at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary. Grant is a member of the Rochester Knighthawks and represented the East in the game, which was broadcast live on NBC. He leads the league in goals (30) and points (60) through the first nine weeks of the 2005 season. In the All-Star game, Grant scored the first goal of the second quarter for the East, which won 11-10 in overtime. He also won the hardest shot and shooting accuracy events in a special skills competition held before the game, with his shot clocked at 102 miles per hour. Grant scored 96 goals and had 81 assists in two seasons with the Fightin Blue Hens. He was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I All-American team in 1999, when he led UD to the NCAA Division I lacrosse tournament quarterfinals.
