GIS workshops offered

11:33 a.m., March 4, 2005--This spring, members of the GIS@UD community are offering seven workshops on various Geographic Information System (GIS) topics. The workshops, ranging from introductory to advanced levels, last from one to three hours and are open to those with a valid UD ID.

GIS refers to comprehensive information systems used to visualize and analyze numerical data and imagery associated with locations on the Earth. Data ranges from demographic to social, biological, environmental and physical science data collections. For many, GIS represents software for producing compelling maps. GIS is used in more than 30 UD departments and units.

Upcoming workshops offered this semester are:

  • ArcGIS 9: Tips and Tricks, March 10;
  • ArcGIS Geoprocessing with ModelBuilder, March 18;
  • General Geocoding Techniques in ArcGIS 9, April 7;
  • ArcGIS: Introduction to ArcView 9, April 14;
  • Spatial Statistics Toolbox in ArcGIS 9.0, April 29;
  • Creating Animations with ArcGIS 9, May 5; and
  • ArcGIS: Cartography Tips, May 11.
