History essay prizes for undergraduates

4:25 p.m., Feb. 10, 2005--The Department of History will hold two essay contests this spring, awarding a total of $900 to undergraduates.

The Thomas J. Craven Prize will award $600 to the author of the best essay on American political or constitutional history, broadly interpreted, or Delaware history.

Undergrads also will have a chance to win the Old Home Prize of $300 for the best essay on the history of Delaware and the Eastern Shore.

Essays must be submitted by Thursday, March 24, to the history department, room 236, Munroe Hall. The author’s name should not appear on the essay, but should be submitted in a sealed envelope with the essay’s title listed on the front.

For more information, call (302) 831-8413 or e-mail [cditomma@udel.edu].
