CAA men’s tournament to tip off Friday night

1:28 p.m., March 1, 2005--The University of Delaware men's basketball team will take on Towson University in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament with game time at 8 p.m., Friday, March 4, at the Richmond Coliseum.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens finished the season 10-19 overall and 7-11 in the CAA and Towson finished 5-23 overall and 2-16 in the conference. The teams split their regular season meetings, with UD falling 86-66 at Towson and winning 65-55 at the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center.

Also Friday, James Madison University will face the College of William and Mary at 5:30 p.m.

The quarterfinals will be held Saturday, March 5, with top-seeded Old Dominion University taking on the winner of the James Madison-William and Mary game at noon.

Drexel University will battle Hofstra University at 2:30 p.m, and defending champion Virginia Commonwealth University will take on the winner of the UD-Towson game at 6 p.m. Closing out the quarterfinals, the University of North Carolina Wilmington will face George Mason University at 8:30 p.m.

Semifinal games will be held Sunday, March 6, at 3 and 5:30 p.m. The championship game will be played at 7 p.m., Monday, March 7. Both semifinal games will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet while the championship game will be televised live on ESPN.

The Hens are led by junior forward Harding Nana, who leads the CAA in rebounding (9.9 per game) and is second in scoring (18.2 per game), and by senior point guard Mike Slattery, who leads the CAA in assists for the third straight year (6.5 per game).
