Amyloidosis Awareness Benefit March 5

3 p.m., March 2, 2005--Anne Derbshire, distance learning recruiter in the College of Health and Nursing Sciences, has organized the Amyloidosis Awareness Benefit, featuring live music, appetizers and cash bar, from 6-10 p.m., Saturday, March 5, at the University and Whist Club in Wilmington.

Amyloidosis is a group of non-curable diseases, in which one or more organ systems in the body accumulate deposits of abnormal proteins.

“There has been little research and no cure for this disease,” Derbshire said. “I am holding the benefit to raise money for amyloidosis awareness in honor of my father who passed away last October.”

To learn more about amyloidosis and/or to make a contribution, visit the Amyloidosis Support Network at [www.amyloidosis.org].
