Amyloidosis Awareness Benefit March 5 3 p.m., March 2, 2005--Anne Derbshire, distance learning recruiter in the College of Health and Nursing Sciences, has organized the Amyloidosis Awareness Benefit, featuring live music, appetizers and cash bar, from 6-10 p.m., Saturday, March 5, at the University and Whist Club in Wilmington. Amyloidosis is a group of non-curable diseases, in which one or more organ systems in the body accumulate deposits of abnormal proteins. There has been little research and no cure for this disease, Derbshire said. I am holding the benefit to raise money for amyloidosis awareness in honor of my father who passed away last October.
