‘Becoming an Askable Parent’ talk March 15

1:56 p.m., March 1, 2005--Jane Bowen, a counselor and educator with Children and Families First, a local resource center for youth, will give a lecture, “Let’s Talk About Sex: Becoming an Askable Parent,” at noon, Tuesday, March 15, in Room 209 in the Trabant University Center.

In her talk, sponsored by UD’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, Bowen will offer tips on how to approach what is often a difficult topic for parents to discuss with their children. She also will explore the connection between effective communication between parents and children of all ages and improved self-esteem and decision-making skills in situations teen encounter in later years with their peers.

The talk is free to members of the UD community, but participants are asked to register by Tuesday, March 8, to reserve a spot. Brown bag lunches are welcome and complimentary sodas and desserts will be provided.

To register or for more information about the talk, go to [www.udel.edu/fsap] or e-mail Julie Skeen at [jskeen@udel.edu].
