Sweet surprises await 11 lucky students

Krystal Wilson, general merchandise supervisor, UD Bookstore
12:17 p.m., Feb. 1, 2005--For every student who has ever dreamed of opening a chocolate bar and finding a golden ticket a la Willy Wonka, the University Bookstore has a promotion just for you!

The UD Bookstore is giving away 23,000 chocolate squares to students who buy at least one used book from Feb. 1-26. A $200 gift certificate for books is hidden inside one of the squares, and 10 others carry $50 book certificates.

The squares are specially printed versions of the Paramount chocolate squares sold at the Bookstore. The difference is they may have tickets inside and the word “used” is printed on the wrapper (referring to the books, not the candy!).

Bookstore Manager Jennifer Galt said the staff suggested the “Golden Hen Ticket” contest to promote the sale of used books.

“We call it the ‘Golden Hen Ticket,’ and we definitely borrowed it from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” Galt said.
