Dec. 17, 2004--Fred Wallace Billmeyer Jr., 85, died Dec. 12 at the Schuyler Ridge Seton Health Nursing Home in Clifton Park, N.Y.

According to an obituary published in the Times Union of Albany, N.Y., he was a lecturer in high polymers in UD’s chemistry department from 1951-64. Dr. Billmeyer was associated with the plastics department of the Du Pont Co. in Wilmington from 1945-64.

He later served as a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was professor of analytical chemical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1964-84.

A graduate of the California Institute of Technology, he received his doctorate in physical chemistry from Cornell University.
