Police investigate Feb. 5 bank robbery

9:58 a.m., Feb. 7, 2005--Newark Police are investigating the robbery of a Citizens Bank located in the Acme Supermarket in Suburban Plaza that occurred at 11:31 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5.

A young man--6’ to 6’1”, with a skinny build and wearing a black baseball hat and black leather jacket—entered the bank and approached a teller with a note. Two tellers turned over an undisclosed amount of money, and he fled the store. No weapon was displayed.

The suspect in this incident matches the description of the suspect in other recent Citizens Bank robberies that have occurred at Acme stores in University Plaza and on Naamans Road. Detectives from both the Newark Police and Delaware State Police are working together.

Citizens Bank is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in these robberies.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Andrew Rubin at (302) 366-7110, ext. 135, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, where information may be left anonymously and an additional reward is available.
