ITUE concludes fall workshops 3:48 p.m., Dec. 2, 2004--UDs Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education is completing this semesters workshop series on Problem-Based Learning (PBL): From Ideas to Solutions through Communication on Friday, Dec. 3. The workshops were designed to help faculty members and teaching assistants incorporate active learning into classrooms with presentations, sample problems and exercises, followed by plans and material for integrating PBL into fellows own teaching. Emphasis was put on the ways that technology can support PBL. The fall program can be viewed at [www.udel.edu/inst/fall2004/]. ITUE is offering a January introductory session, Problem-Based Learning: From Ideas to Solutions through Communication, for faculty and teaching assistants, with sign-in and refreshments at 8:30 a.m. and workshops from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday-Friday, Jan. 19-21. Another session will be offered in the spring from Wednesday-Friday, June 15-17. Several returning ITUE fellows and other faculty presented course transformation projects, and students participated in a panel discussion. In addition, there were three presenters from off campus--Jennifer Adkins from the Nature Conservancy, Bill Briggs from the University of Colorado at Denver and David Edgell from the Delaware Office of State Planning Coordination.
