Blue & Gold Clubs winter menu sizzles 4:53 p.m., Jan. 4, 2005--The Blue & Gold Club has plans for several upcoming events certain to take the chill off winter and add sizzle to the cold-weather doldrums. A Member Appreciation Dinner from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, will get the new year off to a festive start with two select four-course dinners. Appetizer options include a mini crab cake with dried cranberries and citrus butter or sliced breast of duck with spicy fruit salsa. The two salad choicesspinach salad with Gorgonzola and olives, or winter greens with caramelized fennelprecede entrees of either roast pork tenderloin or pan-seared Chilean sea bass. Two dessertschocolate peanut butter mousse cake or fresh apple tart, cap the feast. Dinner is $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 5-11. Bistro Night Buffet, set for 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan, 20, offers diners a wide array of French delicacies, with selections that include assorted bread and cheese, French onion soup, winter greens with walnuts, roasted beets with goat cheese, cassoulet, mustard-braised chicken, smoked-salmon-stuffed sole filets, crispy-potato galette, haricot verts and assorted pastries and desserts. Dinner is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children 5-11. Diners can usher in the year of the rooster with the Chinese New Year Dinner from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3. Featuring oriental-inspired selections, the menu includes egg drop soup, vegetable spring rolls, beef egg foo yung, pork with ginger sauce, red cook chicken, shrimp in chili sauce, fried rice, sesame fried green beans, banana and kiwi spring rolls, coconut rice pudding and, of course, fortune cookies. The dinner is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children 5-11. The festive theme continues with a Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday Dinner. Set for 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8, the dinner will feature a seafood and sausage gumbo, mixed greens with blackened pecans and bleu cheese, Louisiana crawfish etoufee, roasted pork loin with gingersnap gravy, chicken breast with pecan sauce, red beans and rice, banana crème brulee and pear beignets. Dinner is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children. The Taste of India dinner, from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, will bring a welcome reminder of warmer climes in the heart of winter with a menu that includes chicken mulligatawny soup, alu mater samosa, tandoori-baked flatbread, spinach and sweet potato salad, jumbo shrimp dapaza with mango powder, beef vindaloo, chicken tandoori, spinach and chana dhal, caramelized cardamom apples, Indian rice pudding and almond cake. Dinner is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children. Other special events offered this winter by the Blue & Gold Club include a Valentines Sweet Heart Dinner on Monday, Feb. 14, with seatings at 5:30 and 8 p.m. The romantic menu includes chateaubriand for two, veal Oscar, or crab imperial.
