UD freshman Stephanie McQuade scored twice in the loss to top-ranked Princeton.
9:35 a.m., March 31, 2004--The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team fell 15-8 to Princeton University, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division I, on Tuesday evening at Princeton’s Class of 1952 Stadium.

Princeton, which has won the last two national championships, improved to 8-0 and stretched its winning streak over the last two seasons to 17 games.

UD suffered its third loss in as many games and fell to 2-6.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens will return home for a Colonial Athletic Association contest against Drexel University at 7 p.m., Friday, April 2, at Rullo Stadium.

Princeton jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as Lindsey Biles scored twice and Tara Hardiman once. Biles finished the game with five goals.

UD freshman midfielder Stephanie McQuade scored her first career goal as a Hen at 15:21 to close the gap to 3-1. Sophomore midfielder Laura Libertini and freshman attack Jenny Diana also scored first-half goals for the Hens, but Princeton continued to find the net and took a 9-3 lead into halftime.

UD opened the second half with two quick scores by Libertini and Diana to cut the Princeton lead to 9-5.

The Tigers responded with two goals, then McQuade and senior attack Michelle Campolettano scored for the Hens to make it 11-7.

Princeton scored two more goals, UD’s Diana Hall scored and the Tigers closed the came with two additional goals for the final score of 15-8.
