Teaching, Learning and Technology Institute kicks off Jan. 7

1:49 p.m., Nov. 20, 2003--UD’s winter Teaching, Learning and Technology Institute launches its month-long series of classes supporting faculty instruction with a day of pre-institute events including a faculty showcase, instructional grant workshop and door prizes, on Wednesday, Jan. 7, in Room 116 Willard Hall Education Building.

Pre-institute events

  • 8:30-9 a.m.—Continental breakfast and registration
  • 9 a.m.-noon—Faculty showcase
  • Noon-1:30 p.m.—Lunch and poster session
  • 1:30-3:30 p.m.—Instructional grant workshop

    Persons planning to attend one or more of the sessions should register online for each session separately by following the links below.

    Faculty showcase Faculty who have used instructional grant funds in the past will discuss the problems they were trying to solve, results and lessons learned. Click here [http://present.smith.udel.edu/calendar/detail.php?classid=444] to register for the morning session.

    Lunch and poster session Poster session will provide opportunities to interact one-on-one and gain practical advice about tools used and strategies tried.     Instructional grant workshop This workshop is informational for faculty members who plan to apply for instructional grants this year. For more details, click here [www.udel.edu/PR/UDaily/2004/grants111303.html].

    The workshop staff will explain the process in detail, clarify the criteria used to select proposals and provide assistance with project planning. Break-out sessions will emphasize the three General Education goals, learning methods and strategies.     Winter Teaching, Learning and Technology Institute Faculty members also may want to explore a variety of classes scheduled throughout January. Classes include:

  • Designing Accessible and Usable Web Sites; and
