CAA volleyball tournament to be played at Delaware

2:52 p.m., Nov. 18, 2003--The University of Delaware will host the Colonial Athletic Association volleyball championship tournament, with matches scheduled Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21-22, at Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.

In Friday’s games, second seeded George Mason University will battle third seeded James Madison at 4:30 p.m. and top seeded Towson University will take on fourth seeded Hofstra University at 7 p.m.

The championship will be played at 7 p.m., Saturday.

UD closed its volleyball season with a 3-1 loss to George Mason on Saturday night at Viera Court. The Fightin’ Blue Hens finished 11-16 overall and 5-9 in the CAA.

In Saturday’s game, UD junior Valerie Murphy led the team with 15 kills and five blocks. Junior Sarah Engle and sophomore Niecy Taylor had eight kills each.

Prior to the game, UD honored its lone senior, Liz Ommundsen.
