Delaware volleyball team at home for three games

11:15 a.m., Oct. 6, 2003--After splitting a pair of weekend Colonial Athletic Association road games, the University of Delaware volleyball team returns home for three games this week.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens will host Loyola College in a nonconference match at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7, on Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.

They will then host CAA rivals Virginia Commonwealth University on Friday, Oct. 10, and James Madison University on Saturday, Oct. 11. Game time is 7 p.m. for both matches.

Delaware defeated the College of William & Mary 3-1 on Friday, then fell to the University of North Carolina Wilmington 3-2 on Saturday.

UD senior Valerie Murphy led four players in double-digit kills with 15 in the victory over William & Mary.

Junior Sarah Engle and sophomores Niecy Taylor and Jen Daniels each posted 12 kills for Delaware.

In addition, senior Allison Hunter had 35 assists, 14 digs and six blocks, and junior Taylor Govaars notched 21 digs.

In the tight loss to UNC Wilmington, Murphy and Taylor had 17 kills each.

Hunter had 56 assists, Govaars had 19 digs and freshman Claire McCormack had 16 digs for Delaware.

After weekend action, Delaware is 6-9 overall and 1-2 in CAA.
