UD football ranked second in two national polls

8:15 p.m., Oct. 27, 2003--The University of Delaware football team, fresh off a hard-fought 21-17 victory over NCAA Division I Navy, is now ranked No. 2 in the nation in both NCAA Division I-AA polls.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens climbed one spot in both the Sports Network/CSTV and USA Today/ESPN polls, taking over the position previously held by fellow Atlantic 10 Football Conference member Villanova University. The Wildcats slipped after losing to the University of Massachusetts.

In the Sports Network/CSTV poll, the 8-0 Hens have made a run at No. 1 McNeese State University. McNeese holds the top spot with 2,537 points and 80 first-place votes, while the Hens have 2,465 points and 21 first-place votes.
