International Travel Awards announced

2:14 p.m., Sept. 17, 2003--The Center for International Studies (CFIS) has awarded International Travel Awards (ITA) to 19 UD faculty members to support their attendance at international conferences between May 31 and Sept. 26, 2003.

All awards were in the amount of $500.

The awardees and their destinations include:

  • BENIGNO AQUIRRE, professor of sociology, Spain
  • TOBIN DRISCOLL, assistant professor of mathematical sciences, Australia
  • JAMES HAWK, professor of plant and soil sciences, Mexico
  • JANET HETHORN, associate professor of consumer studies, Australia
  • GEORGE HSIAO, professor of mathematical sciences, Australia
  • MURRAY JOHNSTON, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, Italy
  • BARRY JOYCE, assistant professor of history, Germany
  • VIVIAN KLAFF, professor of sociology, Slovenia

  • KATHLEEN MCKOY, associate professor of computer and information sciences, Japan

The International Travel Award (ITA) program has three annual application deadlines during the academic year at the end of September, January and May.
