Bennett, Stille set new UD track and field records

11:55 a.m., April 5, 2004--University of Delaware track and field athletes set two school records at the Terrapin Outdoor Track and Field Invitational, held Saturday afternoon at the University of Maryland.

Casey Bennett set a UD record in winning the women's pole vault championship, and teammate Mandy Stille broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles.

Bennett was UD’s only individual champion as she jumped 11 feet, 5-1/4 inches to win the pole vault. She broke the school record of 11 feet set by Carol Oliveri in 2001.

Stille placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.32, breaking her own mark set last week.

Also for the UD women, the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Kristen Frustillo, Vicki Hufnagel, Daniella Price and Elizabeth Russell placed second in 48.56.

Christine Kowalchuk finished third in the javelin (122-11), and the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Brittany Wright, Stille, Tyechia Smith and Price finished third in 4:00.47.
