Hen athletes set three school records in NYC 10:44 a.m., March 1, 2004--University of Delaware runners set three school records and tied another at New York Universitys Last Chance Meet held Friday night at the Armory Track and Field Center. The meet was the final action before this week's regional championships in Boston. UD freshman Mandy Stille shattered the school long jump record as she finished second overall with a leap of 18 feet, 10-3/4 inches. She broke the mark of 18 feet, 1-1/4 inches set by Angel Rollins in 1998 and surpassed her previous best of 17 feet, 8-3/4 inches earlier this season. Stille also placed third in the 60-meter hurdles. Tyechia Smith placed fourth in the 500-meter run in a school record time of 1:15.70, breaking the old UD mark of 1:17.71 by Alison Farrance in 1986. Also, UD freshman Brittany Wright tied the school record in the 60-meter dash at 7.88, finishing fourth overall. She matched the record of 7.88 by Daniella Price set last year. Wright also placed eighth in the 400-meter run with a time of 58.24. The UD men set a freshman record in the 4x800 meter relay as the team of Mike Zeberkiewicz, Mike Roth, Brad Dodson and Kyle Schmid ran to a time of 7:58.12 to place fifth, breaking the UD mark set in 1991. Also for the UD men, Jerome Holder was second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.36), Sidney Haugabrook was fourth in the 60-meter dash (6.97) and Brett McMonagle was 13th in the pole vault (12 feet, 6 inches). Also for the UD women, Kristen Frustillo was ninth in the 60-meter dash (8.09) and 11th in the 400-meter run (58.72) and Elizabeth Russell was 15th in the 60-meter hurdles (10.41) and 17th in the long jump (14 feet, 9 inches).
