UD tennis teams drop matches at James Madison

11:43 a.m., April 5, 2004--The University of Delaware tennis teams dropped three matches on Saturday afternoon at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. The men lost to James Madison and Radford University and the women to the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

In men’s action, James Madison defeated the Fightin’ Blue Hens 4-0 in a Colonial Athletic Association match and Radford swept the Hens 6-0.

In women’s action, UNC Wilmington defeated the Hens 6-1.

Against James Madison, the UD men picked up their lone win at No. 2 doubles where Josh Ditman and Ari Zweig earned a 9-7 win over Colin Malcolm and David Emery.

Against Radford, Brandon Johnson defeated UD’s Sanjay Khindri 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while Authur Basavecic downed John Tully 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2.

Radford's Andre Cauaco knocked off Adam Liebman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, Joakim Arhammar defeated Ditman 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4, Rovel Meryistead downed Zweig 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 and Dominic Stezr defeated Dustin Lewis 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.

UD sophomore Marissa Singer scored the lone win of the day for the Hens, knocking off UNC Wilmington’s Sheri Elkin 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.

Both UD teams will visit CAA rival Towson University for matches at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 7.
