9:10 a.m., March 23, 2004--The University of Delaware tennis teams opened their annual spring trip to Florida with a split against host Webber College.

The Fightin’ Blue Hen women won five of the six singles matches in straight sets and swept the three doubles competitions for an 8-1 win while the UD men earned three singles victories in a 6-3 setback.

The UD women won as Sari Shuster, Liz Perlow, Jamie deGraffenreid, Beth Principe and Stefanie Riddle all posted straight set victories in singles. Webber got its only win at No. 3 singles when Steffi Jungmann edged the Hens’ Marissa Singer 6-4, 7-6 (9-7). Shuster picked up her team-leading eighth win of the season.
