Delaware men’s tennis team falls to Maryland 7-0

9:58 a.m., March 8, 2004--The University of Delaware men's tennis squad fell 7-0 to the University of Maryland on Saturday afternoon at College Park, Md.

Maryland won all six singles matches in straight sets and downed the Fightin’ Blue Hens in all three doubles matches to pick up the victory.

UD will continue action Monday, March 8, when the men’s and women’s teams host Lafayette at 3 p.m.

Sanjay Khindri and Adam Liebman gave Maryland the toughest test of the day. Maryland's Troy Demers downed Khindri 7-6 (2), 7-5 at the No. 2 spot while Scott Fink upended Liebman 7-5 (4), 6-0 at the No. 3 spot.

In other singles action, Maryland's Ian Bliss downed John Tully 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Dave Reichsfeld downed Josh Ditman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, John O'Rourke defeated Dustin Lewis 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Chase Dawson defeated Jon Edwards 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

UD’s best showing in doubles came at the No. 3 spot where the tandem of Ditman and Liebman dropped an 8-4 verdict to Fink and Reichsfeld.
