Blue Hens softball players Streets, Sloat cited by CAA

10:22 a.m., March 4, 2004--Two University of Delaware softball players have been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association, with senior Laura Streets named the conference Player of the Week and freshman Carolynn Sloat the Pitcher of the Week.

Streets had eight hits in 17 at-bats, four runs batted in and three runs scored as the Fightin’ Blue Hens went 3-2 at the Dixie Classic in Virginia Beach, Va. She hit safely in four of the five games and raised her career hit total to 141, which ranks seventh in school history.

Sloat earned conference honors for the second straight week, having previously been named Rookie of the Week. She went 2-1 with a 0.33 earned run average during the tournament, allowing just one earned run and striking out 18 batters in 21 innings of work.
