UDs Nerys, Adams sign NFL free agent contracts 3:51 p.m., April 26, 2004--Jason Nerys and Mike Adams, co-captains of the 2003 NCAA Division I-AA national champion University of Delaware football team, have signed free agent contracts with NFL teams after the professional leagues weekend draft. Nerys, a 6-foot 4-inch, 295-pound offensive guard, has signed with the New York Jets, and Adams, a 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back, has signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Nerys was a consensus All-American and a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District II All-Academic team. Adams earned second team All-Atlantic 10 Football Conference honors despite missing four games with a broken bone in his leg. Two members of the title winning Fightin Blue Hens were selected in the draft, both in the sixth round.
